Hui Laulima Award Goal:
To recognize one adult, one adult group, one youth, & one youth group of the West Hawaii Community who have demonstrated one or more of the following:
v Significant and ongoing/long term contribution to the youth of Kona v Demonstrated leadership, outstanding citizenship, and serves as a model community member v Overcame a handicap/major obstacle in life with
persistence/determination and good humor v Significant and long term contribution to the Kona community
Background: As a growing community, there are a number of adults, adult groups, youth, and youth groups who have, over the years, made significant contributions to make their community a better place to live
and work. As our community continues to grow it is expected that many more will come forward and strive to make our community a place we can all be proud of. These "unsung heroes" have received little, if any
recognition for their dedication, leadership, and unselfish contributions to the community. This award will attempt to fill the void and recognize deserving individuals and groups.
